In my 35'ish years living in Ventura, I had never really given Corrales much attention. I grew up riding my bike to Johnny's as a kid and that original burrito has always been that port key back to my youth. The other food item that is an instant time warp are corn burritos. The simplistic but much debated local delicacy that consists of three ingredients and a sauce. How hard can it be to roll refried beans in a corn tortilla, top it with cheese, and provide an enchilada style dipping sauce. Well, turns out it can be extremely difficult to do out right. Just look at any of the social media group posts dedicated to the subject. Territorial lines are drawn, favorite locations are enshrined, and battles are waged. So, like most of us that get inspired by social musings, my wife and I are on a quest to find our favorite CB spots. Oh, and try their other products too as a by product. The Good: We have tried many places already so when I say that Corrales has one of the best corn burritos in the country, you can take my word on the matter. I've found that the beans and the sauce added the deal breaker and they nail it on both. Corrales salsa is the garlickiest (new word?) of all salsas in Ventura and it works well. Their CB sauce is no exception. While I like the CB sauce, I find that their regular red sauce works just as well or better. Large/Medium Burritos: They buck the normal trend with their pork chili Colorado and their beef chili verde. In 99% of other Mexican restaurants, the proteins are reversed. I had the pork Colorado medium burrito and it was amazing. Pork was tender and unctuous and the rice was cooked to perfection. I kicked myself for only getting the medium and should have paid the extra $1 for the large. Definitely a must when you visit. Will try the beef verde next time. The Bad: The second time I visited it was for breakfast and given my initial experience, I was excited to try their breakfast burrito with ham. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the combo of rice and potatoes so I'll have to try it without the rice next time. Good portions but I think I'll stick with lunch items in the future. The Ugly: nothing "Ugly" here. Parking can be tough during rush hours and you can expect to wait for your order but the food is worth it. All in all, if you're in town and looking to try something uniquely Ventura, walk on down to Corrales and try some of the best corn burritos in the county. You'll be glad you did.

A coworker took me here for birthday treat. I got a small shredded chicken burrito that had rice and beans The burrito was good in flavor and the chicken was moist. They give you a small serving of tortilla chips and sauce too. I enjoyed the flavor of the green salsa. The reason why I give this place a 4 is because the crew was a bit disorganized and seemed very confused on our orders. We were the only ones waiting for our order and they asked us like 3 times what our order numbers were and what we ordered.
